If you love real wood, look no further than our framed cottage window box in pleasing and durable cedar. Natural or white wood in this cottage window box planter make this a best seller. The optional PVC liner not only protects your cedar window box from soils or water salts - it also allows you to start your window box flowers inside when you want early spring or summer bloom. If you need custom window boxes, we can fabricate liners for them, too. And don't forget to look at decorative brackets for these window planter boxes
Cedar window boxes in cottage style come in six standard lengths from 24" to 72" wide to fit most window combinations. White finishes require a bit longer in shipping than natural cedar tones for these window planters.
One of the greatest debates in gardening with container flowers is always whether you need to use new potting soil each year. When working with window boxes, it's a good idea to treat your container flowers to fresh soil because roots will have used most of the soil nutrients. It's also difficult to get a truly lush container flower display without the benefits of fresh soil. However, in deeper planters, many gardeners don't worry much about the soil below the root zone. Some gardeners also recommend using a layer of coarse gravel or similar material beneath a window box liner or at the bottom of a container planter to prevent water from standing in plant roots.
