Try a pair of raised panel cedar window boxes and chances are you'll want more cedar window boxes. Cedar well deserves its status as a favored wood for window boxes, decks, siding and roof shingles. Its rich natural wood tones fade to that lovely weathered blue-grey shade only true cedar like that in our cedar panel window box can match. If you prefer the original tones, just touch up with stain once in a while.
By adding a liner, you will protect your Hooks and Lattice wood window boxes from stains that would otherwise develop from soil salts, water or fertilizer. We offer custom fit vinyl liners for wood window box planters. Styled brackets add more design flair to window boxes with our cleat brackets, or stay with simple hardware provided with each designer window box. Note the raised detail with outer frames silhouetting the raised panel at their centers. Longer window boxes offer two panels. Add to that a nicely sized upper rim a bit winder than the baskets, beautifully tying flower basket and flowers.
If you are new to window boxes or like to change your plantings now and again, we recommend a source of great window box planting ideas - our annual Hooks and Lattice Window Box Contest, which also lets you previous many of our regular and custom window boxes. Here's a dramatic idea where you have room for vines to hang. Use annual geraniums as the back-of-the-window box anchor, accent the middle with purple petunias, and then fill in with combinations of margarita and licorice vines. If you have a shady spot, one all-time favorite simply combines enough caladium plants with deep red-pinks to fill the back two-thirds of the container, or sides when using a long window box, then center a prolific and exciting dragon-wing begonia to spark in the center. Lovely and carefree.
