Self-Watering Window Box & Planter Reservoirs - Hooks & Lattice
37"Lx9"Wx3"H Rectangular Reservoir
Large window boxes call for oversized planter reservoirs. This 9-inch wide self-watering reservoir insert holds over 4 gallons of water, and can be used in conjunction with other reservoirs for longer planters. Why use self-watering planter reservoirs? Not only does the use of reservoir inserts reduce the amount of care you have to provide, it also reduces your water usage, and therefore lowers costs.
How to Use:
- Before planting your window box planter or garden box, place the reservoir in the bottom of the container.
- Cut the included fill tube to the desired length, and add soil and plants.
- Fill the reservoir up until it is full. If you're not sure, you can use a dowel and check your water level via the PVC fill tube.
- Consider top-watering for this one time, then before adding more water to your reservoirs, simply check soil moisture by sticking your fingers approximately 2" into the soil. The top may appear dry, but moisture will wick its way where it is needed.
Each Planter Well will irrigate 9" of soil beyond its edge, so one 36" Planter Well reservoir will keep the soil moist in a window box or planter that is 54" long.
Rules Of Thumb for the 37"L x 9"W x 3"H Planter Well Reservoir
Using One (1) Planter Well
38"-54" Interior Length x 9"-14" Interior Width x 9"-14" Interior Height.
Using Two (2) Planter Wells
76"-99" Interior Length x 9"-14" Interior Width x 9"-14" Interior Height.
Using Three (3) Planter Wells
114"-144" Interior Length x 9"-14" Interior Width x 9"-14" Interior Height.
