Window box outdoor artificial flowers or fake flowers from Hooks and Lattice are made of a high quality industrial grade polyethylene blend material with added
ingredients to prevent U.V. degradation. All plastics regardless of pigmentation will experience some color change in the pigments or the resin, on exposure to ultra violet radiation. The degredation of plants offered at Hooks and Lattice will be very slow and minimal over time. In laboratory tests standard polyethylene plants break down after 200-500 hours of exposure; however, our plants have gone well over 4000 hours without noticable change.
This brings us to the most important question. How long will the faux plants last in my application? The answer to this question depends upon several factors that include (what part of the country my house is located, where the plant is installed and how much shade is provided, how many days of bright sunlight exposure will your plants experience). Under severe U.V. (ultra violet) exposure in the deep South and Southwest in very sunny and hot climates plants have remained viable for three to five years. While in Northern climates where U.V. radiation is less intense the faux plants have lasted seven years or more. In fact there are numerous installations in the North that look great after more than ten years of service.
